no name heroes
i got this idea out of sudden during midnight .. i realised that i've neglected a lot of people .. both good and bad people .. and forever i feel like i wanna thank them in every different way but it turned out to be a failure ... with so many factors.. short of time, unexpected events, and mostly my lazyness and doubtful mind drag me down from doing all those planned appreciation .. tonite ... and onwards .. i realised a way to appreciate their hard work and their contribution either towards me, other people or the society or the world.
what ever you will see here is true story of true people without names .. they hidden contribution with the deepest thankful appreciation from somebody ..
p/s : now i'm calling for no-name-hero stories !! Send in any story about any heroes you know ... they could be your parents, friends .. or even a stranger that give you a hand on the street when u in trouble !! Send in your story with title "NO-NAME-HERO" to sherlock2000holmes@yahoo.com . you can choose to reveal your real name or not. They might not know their effort/help has been appreciated, but at least you've done something !

To tell you the truth those BN blokes brains are filled with mud! They cannot see the similarity between Khairy statement and Lee Kuan Yew statement. Both bear the same meaning. Only change the name of country and race.
Khairy said: Singapore marginalised the malays.
Lee Kuan Yew said: Malaysia marginalised the Chinese.
Pak Lah, do you need an English specialist to explain to you the differences!
I must congratulate Lee Kuan Yew who really shows our half past six government that the Chinese are marginalised here. And at the same time to tell Pak Lah that it is time to teach your son-in-law how to behave.
This is not something new. They are God and they are also the devil. They can do all they want. I don't care about their stupid speeches, blames or comments game. The only thing I care about is how they are driving this country down the drain.
BN is a virus. They come and consume the land's riches, integrity and morale. When all is gone, they spread to other areas to sustain their destructive ways. BN is a disease country cancer.
DAP is the cure. And to use this cure, we must vote them into parliament.
Please tell Pak Lah to restrain his dog Khairy. He is barking and pissing everyone off. Maybe Khairy is doing this on purpose to bring down Pak Lah and then grab the post for his own.
Our leaders are all hypocrites. It is alright for them to criticise USA, Singapore, Thailand and any country they want to. But when other country criticise us they want apology. The government is really half past six and they should all resign.
Umno is trying very hard to portray a confident and strong party. But deep inside, they are very insecure. This could be seen in the unusual behavior and conduct of their members.
These are the Pak Lah achievements:
1. He has TALKED against fighting corruption.
2. He has TALKED against "little Napoleons".
3. He has TALKED for promoting inter-racial/religious harmony.
4. He has TALKED in favour of good governance, integrity and transparency.
5. He has TAKED, TALKED and TALKED.
He needs five years to TALK before he starts to WALK. So just be patient.
Unfortunately, I do not hate the MCA or Gerakan Chinese leaders and things like that, because I don't have faith on them and since the beginning I don't think they really speak what is from their heart, they speak what is good for themselves.
Our country is just a country full of racist people everywhere, and we always think we are multi-cultured country and people live happily ever after, but we forgot other country has more different races and cultures than us. But I think this is all about the Malaysia Boleh disease, we thought we are too good compare to other country.
I wonder this government now is building a nation, or building a malay kampung. Honestly, the most important thing is about our next generation, and so far all I see now, is the people biting each other just to get a piece of meat for themselves.
The biggest culprits for all these tension are the politicians, whether they are from Umno, MIC, MCA or others. Why should ordinary people like us be burden with all these excesses, which could be used to give us free medical treatments, cheaper petrol, electricity, better schools, etc.
Fighting among races will not enrich the poor, it is just create excuses for the "corrupted" politicians to "sodomise" and "rape" the country even more.
I will vote any opposition party hopefully to get some changes for worst or better. And I urge my fellow wise Malaysians to do so. What some person said was right, we must change the government, then only there is hope.
Look at BN after 49 years, only the politicians and cronies benefited. So why are you afraid of changing the government, unless of course you are also part of them.
It is the politicians who raped us - the citizens. I would like to see big changes in our government, at least the one that I always dream of is a better education system. We are heading globalization already and I want my children to be well prepared for that too.
The headlines in news, Malaysia leaders: Lee Kuan Yew must apologise, really amused me. The leaders are asking for something which is out of line in their own practice.
There are umpteen times where our leaders, particularly Umno, had made derogatory remarks that are hurtful to the non-malays, especially the Chinese. And yet they found it fit not to apologise.
The latest one being Hisham and Ong Tee Kiat, with the education minister accusing Ong Tee Kiat of trying to be a champion for the Chinese community. Having proven that the school had been shortchanged in the repair work, Hisham did not even utter a word of apology.
Then Khairy made the infamous remark regarding the Chinese seeking to exploit the split within Umno. He too, did not apologise to the Chinese community.
As far as I am concern, I have never come across any of our leaders ever apologising for obvious mistakes or remarks made. Thus, I do not see any reason why Lee Kuan Yew need to offer an apology for a remark that is too obvious.
Our Indian and Chinese brothers, be positive thinking.
The more they rely on NEP the weaker they are. On the contrary, other races will become more matured, flexible and dynamic. The malays are giving a very good training to other races in Malaysia.
We pity them because their race will deteriorate over times if they do not wake up.
For those who still quote Singapore malays are victim of Singapore should feel shame.
This is biggest joke, when Malaysia malays think that they are fighting the right for Singapore malays and use this as an excuse to fulfill their greediness. Yet Singapore malays look down at Malaysia malays. They are proud to be Singapore malays.
Hahaha. Yes, again biggest joke is, they control almost every resource in Malaysia, and practicing daytime robbed, yet someone still quote Malaysia malays can get what they want if other race agreed.
This is what we called, Dr Spin.
Don't you know Umno strategy? Keep the malays forever dependent on them so that they can stay in power. There are many capable malays but they are so used to crutches that their muscle are dystrophic. It is like the doctor (no pun intended) who prescribes his patient an addictive quick fix so that they will keep coming back to him/her.
The fact that Mahathir may be more "modern thinking" than other malays, many may not aware, could be due to his training in Singapore!
Malays from Singapore just far outclass the malays from Malaysia in terms of knowledge and capability. But we have this "katak bawah tempurung" who thinks "don't becoming like the malays in Singapore"!
Friend, you are just far from them! You are just losing out! The poor deputy minister can never be as good as the Singapore malays in this life! And he never thinks to be like the Singapore malays to excel from the competition! Need to say more?
I too was fortunate enough to have a father who was farsighted enough to send me off to Singapore to be educated, some 10 years ago. Just like him, I will also send my children to Singapore one day, as I believe that their education system is far more superior compared to Malaysia, and to prepare them to face the future challenges in this competitive world.
It is not the race factor that makes Singapore what it is today. It is the system. Singapore is very wise and very careful never to mix religion/race with politics. Anyone irrespective of the race gets severe punishment if involved in religious or racial slur.
Their work ethics and accountability of their leaderships/heads and every civil servant based on merit rather than skin is so glaringly obvious. In Malaysia we are exactly the opposite in almost any area one can think of.
I really doubt many Singapore malays would like to move to Malaysia which obviously the Malaysia government would be too happy to grab them. Yet this is never an issue. It is not happening. Why?
This same goes to the Singapore Chinese. The Chinese there are more advanced than the Chinese here in Malaysia.
As a Chinese, I have to admit it and I really hope Chinese in Malaysia to start opening their eyes and learn the lessons to be more outward looking, improve themselves like learning more English and not dream that the next decade is easy going or get frustrated by the NEP.
We should first start by inculcate into our children from now on these values. There will be difficult times ahead and unless Chinese they make themselves competitive now, Malaysian Chinese will fall behind and be history.
Just like the NEP cannot bring an entire community to overcome their economic weakness overnight, so is the Chinese need to forge ahead to remain competitive cannot be achieved overnight. Start the ball rolling now.
To this end, I ask all Chinese leaders to lead and there are opportunities beyond the shores of Malaysia. We have to help ourselves because no one will.
If you are to make too much money in Malaysia, how the heavens can the malays catch up and give up NEP when the percentage of their economic cake will remain the same or stagnent?
So the solution for Malaysia is to increase the malays national wealth and the non-malays to increase their wealth globally - and keep it there. Right? This is open for dispute.
It is cool, Singapore malays achieved such feat because of the system, but the system was helped tremendously by the fact that there is no race issue.
I have friends in Singapore who are malays and they never consider themselves as malays. They always call themselves Singaporeans, something a country like Malaysia will never be able to achieve with the malays having the ketuanan attitude.
If only we have more people like a farsighted malay, Malaysia would be as progressive as Singapore. In fact with all our natural resources we could even be better than Singapore.
Our government is wasting money on subsidy to the malays when it should be teaching them to be independent. That is why today we see a lot of malay children too lazy to work and spend most of their time on drugs and become mat dull.
Slowly the Indonesians are coming over to take all their jobs and eventually they will be beggars in their own country.
There is plenty that I do not agree with the Singaporeans, their "one party state" for example, and their serious curbs on freedom of speech. But there is also plenty that we can learn from the good points of other nations as well, may it be the US, UK, Australia, even China.
But the underlying issue here is that a system based on mutual respect, meritocracy and equality work. Singaporeans have reach great heights in the international scene despite being very limited land, natural resource poor and limited population.
Yet their formula is a good example of a system that works. Every person benefits if they are willing to work hard and aim high.
Or would you rather Malaysians stay ignorant. "See no evil, say no evil, and hear no evil." Think about it……….
Malay leaders in Malaysia like to see their folks contained in a chicken coop. They tell them that they are free and yet to be beholden to them as they are the ones providing them their feed.
They even believe that if they left the coop, they might be eaten up by the wily fox, and that they might otherwise starve to death.
The Singapore malays is in no illusions and they know they are out of the coop. They got to find their own nourishment and they got no leader throwing in the crumbs to them.
If they don't want to labour for their food, they can always go across the causeway and be given citizenship rights and take advantage of all the crumbs thrown at them. But most of them will not.
Of course the chicken shit from there have all long crossed over. But the rest have a little more dignity and stay on to show what they are really made up of.
I respect the Singapore malays for that. It does not matter that they have made a lot of wrong turns or that they have hardly a fighting chance. But they got more respect and dignity than their kinsfolk from over here Malaysia.
This is what half-past-six ministers that we have in Malaysia. Even comparison between Singapore malays and Malaysian Chinese, Singapore malays are never discriminated by their government based on equality.
I have so many Singapore malay friends from school mates, college mates to business partners. Penang malays would be so glad if they are treated like Singapore malays. Just ask the Singaporeans……….do they want to be back to Malaysia?
The problem with the Malaysia malays is their jealous attitude. If they are left behind, they will prevent others from moving ahead too! And sometimes even sabotaging others, and some resort the use to cast spell on others.
Not only the laid back malays are preventing their own people from being successful, but other races too. We also want the malays to be successful by creating value in the society so that everyone benefit but not by taxing the non-malays then give contracts to the malays, who will then deliver half-past-six service.
Change your own attitude first through value creation using your own tears and sweats!
As said before, had Malaysia been managed by Lee Kuan Yew and his colleagues for the past 40 years, Malaysia would have been much better off today, including all the malays! 95% would have owned a house, and no such rampant corruption!
For the malay ultras, facts speak louder than your bigotry cries, wake up, grow up, be men instead of sissies!
You see the problem here - the malays just cannot face up to their main problem - Laziness. This shows how thick-skinned and self-deluded these people are.
Malaysia is a multi-racial country. Jika kamu tak suka, kamu boleh blar……….tiada orang larang kamu.
The fact is malays you are the biggest loser! I am trying to wake you up instead of using the way like what our government is practice to provide NEP even though it is proven NEP is a failure in the past 30 years. Keep on dreaming if you think Malaysia could achieve Vision 2020 with your kind of attitude!
Majority of the Penang big government contracts is being awarded to the malay firms. What else you want! They get the same as other malays in Malaysia. The only different in Penang is, the Umno guys cannot tap the government fund into their own pocket, as other state Umno did. This is the main reason why they raised this issue.
Speaking without substances and distorting facts seems to be the good old habitual ways of Malaysia malays, which is probably inherited by their much loved masters, the "malay killers" - Umno.
To add to this, constant distorted facts with regards to the situational state of the Singapore malays remains among the commentators of Umno. It is hard not to see that some people really need to see the situation and know it first hand before dishing out their empty vessel mentalities.
Anyways, good thing you be it Malay, Indian, Chinese in Singapore is open to competition, and cherish diversity. Not like the radical son of terrorist we can find many in Malaysia.
Most malays in Malaysia hate diversity and discontent to the minorities, especially the Chinese. In blog, radical malays can be either extreme or pretentiously diverse-minded. Very few is genuine.
I do admit there are lazy malays that depend on handouts, but this kind of malays will be phase out and this kind I would say hypocrite. They tend to claim they work hard to achieve success, in fact they relaying on government support. I myself despise this kind of human being.
Little do they realize this safety net is fast disappearing because the government is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the system in the face of global challenges! But these handouts have become an addiction. Refuse the junkie and you get booted out of power.
It is the malays themselves that must come to realize the damaging side effects of the NEP. For someone who wants no better than to see his own race succeed, this must be painful.
And you can often see the malays are usually envious of not only the non-malays, but of their own successful malays as well.
Malays failed is a fact. What make non-malays not happy about their failure is, they fail despite get ample help from the government.
And they continue putting the blame on their fail to, especially the Malaysian Chinese. This is why created so many issue and argument here.
But those greedy Umno guys keep emphasis the NEP, how many percent of the country wealth belong to malays. In fact, those Umno guys having super good life by easy way.
And they keep on demanding, not really review what was wrong with it, putting the blame to non-malays, to stir the racist sentiment in the country.
If present situation continue, even the malays get 60% of the country wealth, majority of the malays will still munch.
Simple solution - come to Singapore and see for yourselves even if you want to guise that our Singapore malays are in lesser numbers on success than the Malaysia idiotic counterparts - our Singapore malays are based on merit and not on such keris wielding Umno policies……….are you proud of that?
Once again, in a subtle and indirect manner, this forum has proven how naive and "katak bawah tempurung" a Malaysia malay can be. Blame who? The Umno policies.
Yes, start collecting the achieves with regards to moral degradation among Malaysia malays. Look at the Umno ministers when they speak on national TV. Qualify or not become ministers with such low reactive capabilities?
Some Malaysia malays saying Singapore malays quota should be more in the Singapore cabinet if compared to the Indians. First, Singapore government is based on merit system and not like you bunch of racist moron Malaysia malays here. That is why Malaysia is so backward if compared to Korea and others.
Not many Malaysia malays can survive if they go oversea because they are slow and lazy and that is why they can't compete with the competitive market out there. Normally they will end up hiding their head in Malaysia with the protection and biased system by the Malaysia government.
Come on, man. We do not have time to argue the truth of your on and on talk about "not all malays are spoofed, not all malays are lazy". Like we are dying to argue that when we already know it is true.
It is human nature to blame everyone about their plight rather than blame themselves. The majority of new generation of malays in Singapore is educated, unlike their parents.
Please read the comments made by Singapore malays why they can hold their heads up and be proud as a Singapore malay and then maybe it will sink into you.
Muslims everywhere unless they are the minority, cannot tolerate people with different religions. The Singapore government handles the situation rather well as they handle their malay community with kid gloves.
Our Malaysia educational policy is in a hopeless situation. By changing from English medium to bahasa melayu, we lost a generation of English speaking people.
Now countries like China and India have overtaken us. Soon Indonesia and Vietnam will also overtake us, if they had not done so. Our country will eventually become the sick man of Asia.
We will be a nation with a lot of unemployable graduates with qualification that is not recognised by any country outside Malaysia.
Frankly, all our local university qualifications are not recognised by any oversea educational body. That is a polite way of saying that your university standard is lousy and not up to standard.
So those of you in local university, stop wasting your time, might as well do a vocational course. You have better chance to get a job.
It is over in San Francisco and I love respond to the question. Emigration is very common. Our family had been emigrated to US (me), my elder brother (UK), my younger brother (Taiwan) and youngest brother (Canada).
All of them are doing very well. I am almost light year ahead of my Malaysian counterpart who did not move. Believe me, I do not have much grudge against the government.
As far as I am concerned, it is a matter of survival for our family. I just cannot wait for the 'system' to be totally fair. Because there is no such things. Even in many countries where there is only one race, there will be other self made problems such as left and right, and so on.
My vision from the point of Malaysian Chinese to be educated (real), not getting just a 'silly' diploma, diversify all portfolio internationally. You must understand that there are many Americans who are doing well, they always have some portfolio overseas, it does not mean that they are being disloyal.
The world is getting so small. I really do not see getting a job in Hong Kong or Taiwan or the US is such a big deal anymore. I am happy that we left, I do not think we could achieve in Malaysia 'even' if the system is totally fair. It is because we are lacking of vision for ourselves. We are always responding retroactively and try to catch up.
For example, Malaysia want to start the bio-tech, but I am worry that the educational level 'even' from the top university (UM, USM) is not good enough. I did research some of the top professors of said colleges. Sorry, I am not too impressed. We have to really catch up.
My wife is another brain drain. She just got a research grant from NIH by being the top 1% of all US scientists. Her boss always said: You must be the top 5% or above. Her group has a total of US$147000000 research grant (147 millions).
We have no clue what we can contribute to Malaysia's science if we return. We will be dealing with silly racial politics and intransigent bureaucrats.
Same thing happened to my brother in Taiwan, he is one of the top civil engineers in Taiwan and very successful one. It will be a torture for him to return home. What do you guys think?
You see, my wife's chancellor was the 1987 Nobel laureate in Medicine. He discovered the 'Oncogene'. They are the people who started companies like Genentech 'www.gene.com' or Chiron 'www.chiron.com', just to name a few.
My greatest concern is that if Malaysians are not serious about progress, I am a little pessimistic about the future. We will be seeing too tidal wave from China and India, and not to mention Japan, Korea or Taiwan.
We are so spoon fed by the government, we can't think anymore. You look, I have little respect for the governments (Malaysia, Taiwan or US) because they are run by a lot of incompetent peoples especially in science. For example, all the chancellors in the university in Malaysia are from royal family. I am skeptical of their scientific achievement except they are great in giving themselves all the meaningless titles.
Final suggestion: Education, I mean real. I accept only doctorate level. My wife has two, MD and PhD as well. Compete internationally.
Sorry for the bragging.
The 12 realities ---
1. On paper, citizenship is secure - in reality, they say if you don't like it here, you can go away
2. On paper, even the NEP is good - in reality, it sucks
3. On paper, Malaysia can be great - in reality, 'Malaysia Boleh' remains just a word, an empty cry, devoid of any life and spirit to ensure the nation's survival
4. On paper, Pak Lah is fighting corruption - in reality, no Umno member is standing together with him
5. On paper, we are a multiracial country - in reality, we have one community which is more equal than other communities
6. On paper, we are a peaceful country - in reality, the absence of conflict is superficial, very fragile
7. On paper, we had the report, and 125 recommendations of the Royal Commission on the police - in reality, we have just a book, non-act upon
8. On paper, we have a police force to look after our security - in reality, we need some protection from the police
9. On paper, we have the meritocracy system - in reality, quota system is still running
10. On paper, we have the national agenda - in reality, it is the malay agenda
11. On paper, we have the parliamentarians - in reality, we have a zoo, and only a few are ministers, the majority being exhibited specimens
12. On paper, we solve inter-community issues by win-win consultation - in reality, issues are silenced by subtle threats of unrest made on grounds of the supremacy, of one community master and their unquestionable agenda
Malaysia and Singapore used to be one body. Both started on par in many things, including their universities.
Now, 40 years later, Malaysia and Singapore are different. A tale of two nations. One is declining or stuck and the other is moving forward.
Why the stark difference? One obvious reason is the way human resources are used in Malaysia and Singapore. Another reason is accountability and transparency. Yet another reason is corruption.
The government of one nation has tunneled vision under a coconut shell while the other has good mission and vision. One is concerned with one dominant race and the other is race-blind.
Furthermore, one practices an officially approved apartheid policy while pretending to be a fair government that does not marginalise its citizens of certain ethnic groups. One is pretends to be global while the other is truly global.
Malaysia and Singapore: excellent examples for historical and social analyses and studies. Also, excellent case studies in evolution: survival of the fittest.
Hi, I do not know who are you but you need not to change different identities in very short time just to give several comments. That's first. Second, it is not relevant to my blog, I do not favor or like any sensetive issues appeared in this blog. And so I'm sorry I cannot publish any of your story (moreover it's not a story) ...
hope your spiritual speech would work in somewhere else, not here ... ... ... not here ... ...
